Biography
Louise graduated with Distinction from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) 2020, where she is studied a 2 year masters (MA) in Advanced Opera Performance with the David Seligman Opera School.
Louise has performed as a principal with a number of companies including Bristol Opera, Tessitoura (Bristol touring opera company) and Opera Presto. Her operatic roles include Olympia in The Tales of Hoffmann, Vixen Sharp Ears in The Cunning Little Vixen, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel and Despina in Cosi fan Tutte. Recent operatic roles with RWCMD include Casilda in The Gondoliers and The Fly in Weill's Happy End. For her perfomance of Gretel, Louise was nominated for a Rose Bowl Award for best actress in a musical/opera.
Most recently Louise played the operatic role of Miss Havisham in the Welsh premiere of Miss Havisham's Wedding Night, RWCMD.
Louise has also played the musical theatre roles of Cinderella in Into the Woods, Anne in A Little Night Music, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Johanna in Sweeney Todd and Cosette in Les Miserables.
Louise devised and directed her own shows 'The Comedy of Operas' and 'Almost Austen'. She performed 'The Comedy of Operas' in Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and at the international Edinburgh Festival Fringe where she had a successful run with excellent audience feedback, a mention from Broadway Baby and video feature by the BBC. Louise has recently devised and performed 'Almost Austen' as part of the Jane Austen Festival, Bath.
Lousie has performed in numerous concerts, notably in 2019 she was a soloist in the RWCMD Opera Gala with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Carlo Rizzi. She is also been the annual soloist at the Jane Austen Festival ball for the last 7 years.
Louise studied singing with Angela Hickey, Jessica Cash and Anne Mason. She was a student at Abingdon Summer School for Solo Singers in 2014 and 2015 and at the National Opera Studio, Opera Intensive Short Summer Course 2017.
Louise is also a qualified doctor, having studied medicine at Bristol University in 2016 (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery). Louise continues to work as a doctor alongside performances.
